A Practical Guide to Outstanding Holiday Fashion

Designer Maria Moschiano gives us a practical guide to suits, colors, accessories, shoes and textures for the glamorous and chic Venezuelan woman to choose her looks for Christmas and New Year's Eve. To be elegant and in sync with December festivities, Venezuelans always make use of imagination and their extraordinary beauty in order to achieve a spectacular look. For these reasons, Maria Moschiano provides us with practical pointers to close 2010 on the highest note, always customizing international fashion trends with profusion of glamour. The designer warns us that trends for 2011 are very different from those for New Year's Eve. For example, minidresses are all in for holiday events, whereas hems will drop to the knee next year.
"Long skirts should be avoided for these holidays, unless strict etiquette demands it, otherwise, a very hip woman may wear those very short minis, perhaps too short, if she dares to. If for any reason she feels minis do not suit her, there is the option of playing with not so short dresses, that is, those with a length above or at the knee", she indicates.
Regarding colors, according to the designer, black is a sure bet for this holiday season. "For those who love a very diva style, velvet has made a comeback for New Year's with a vintage twist, retro and opulent, it can be seen in dresses and non stiletto shoes, which are fabulous combined with dark tights".
Plunging necklines are out. Now the accent is on the back, which will go almost bare and combined with fishnet tights with patterns and crystal embellishments, the latest fashion trend for the season. "Another option -Moschiano explains- is to play with volumes. There are many spectacular versions, puffed skirts and sleeves, vintage tiered pieces in burgundy and wine tones. Also, we can find a regal and sophisticated lingerie style, which is very refined and sexy, as lace always is, demurely worn with no excesses".
For the executive woman
Elegance and class must prevail in the executive woman. "For those who must attend corporate events, I recommend accessories such as black on gold base earrings. The black dress is a basic piece combined with gladiator sandals, also in black. But those who are inclined to a more casual look may give it a avant-garde touch with a shirtdress worn with a wide belt embellished with chains and a few bangles in Cartier yellow, white and pink gold.
"She will also look stunning in a glamorous retro red dress, in gabardine or jersey, Jacqueline Kennedy style. For a very special touch, it can be complimented with a very thin belt to enhance the waist. Shoes can be all black or in a playful leopard print".
The designer of Moschiano Couture adds that a white satin camisole will always work well with a gauze skirt, a beaded belt and tights in saturated colors or pattern fishnets. Regarding jackets, "take preference for the adorable velvet tuxedo jacket".
Shoes will depend on the style and look that is wanted. Leather boots and shoes are making a strong statement this season. For Christmas and New Year's Eve, high heels are more appropriate, either the classic shoe or sandals in traditional or gladiator style.
In order to shine this holiday season, just make a wish, the alternatives are infinite, success depends upon your personal style and on the confidence with which you wear it.
