2012 London Olympics

Athletes representing Venezuela at the 2012 London Olympic Games opening ceremony, will wear the designs of one of the biggest names in Venezuelan fashion: Maria Moschiano, who was deeply inspired in our identity, our flag and the color white from the horse of our Liberator, Simon Bolivar.
This commitment signified a great deal to the designer: to create the official look of our athletes, and in such a task she achieved the expression of Venezuelan essence, combined with the glamour and good taste that portray us.
"It is a privilege to be the first Venezuelan designer to devise and create an official look for the Venezuelan team participating in the 2012 London Olympic Games, for which I am profoundly grateful and honored", said Moschiano.
The suit is a fashion forward version of our national suit -the "liqui liqui", a two piece of classic, timeless lines- the inspiration for choosing solid white as the basis for the design, of tailored cuts, pleats in the front and a high straight neckline, the definition of a classic design.
Female athletes will wear a slightly puffed sleeve at a 3/4 length while males will wear a long sleeve, all of them combined with the typical liqui liqui neck, the Venezuelan Olympic Committee logo on the sleeves and chest. The back will spell Venezuela in a cursive, tricolor font. A lovely detail is that our female athletes will wear a headpiece by our designer and handmade by famous jeweler Carlos Boulton -in nickel and eight Swarovski crystals representing the stars in our flag-, and yellow, blue and red flower earrings.
Designer María Moschiano pointed out the pride she felt in creating these looks for our athletes, who will strive to give their country the best name. "I am filled with emotion and gratefulness toward the Minister of Sports for selecting our company and for trusting us with this project. Likewise, I acknowledge the hard work of each and every member of my staff, tailors, seamstresses, journalists, photographers and assistants, all from whom I have received the utmost support", she ended.
